Rope's End Publishing is a small indie publisher based in Tucson, Arizona. Rope's End books express a multicultural and internationalist perspective and a deep concern about the natural world.
Rope's End publisher and author C.J. Shane published her first six books with a traditional publisher. When she attempted to find a publisher for her book Voices of New China in 2013, she encountered many of the problems we associate with traditional publishing. The most serious was that a publisher interested in her manuscript required editorial changes that the publisher believed would make the book more “provocative,” but that went against Shane's goal and mission in writing the book.
So Shane decided to self-publish. Since that time, she has self-published four books with a fifth coming in August, 2019. That totals eleven books, and she's working on the next one.
